It is the name of a protein found in all tissues of the body. Where it abounds most is in the liver. It is also the name of a laboratory test, where the levels of this protein are measured.

ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE protein found in all body tissues. The tissues with the highest amounts of AF are the liver, bile ducts, and bones. A blood test measures the level of AF. A related test is the examination of alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes.
